Dear Families,
We hope you were able to join us online for this past week's Religious Education Kickoff! Below is a brief recap of what you can expect this year. We are very excited for our new Religious Education format, which involves working together as a family to grow closer to God.
We understand that everyone has a different amount of time to devote to instruction. Therefore, each month on the website you will find: - Monthly outline for each book to be completed at your own pace
- Monthly (or biweekly for second grade) video clips/lessons from your Religious Education Staff
- Supplementary activities for more in depth study (if you are so inclined)
- A monthly challenge to put your faith into action
Take a moment to look through the materials with your children. Our sacramental programs (Grades 2, 8 & 9) will have additional links for videos with each chapter. For all other grades, we have chosen the Be My Disciples series because it is formatted to use across grade levels and promote discussion in the family. You will notice that there is only one Be My Disciples outline. This is because the format is the same, but the message in each book is geared for a specific grade level. The grade level differences are listed on the outline.
The most important aspect of our program is watching Mass together as a family and receiving Spiritual Communion. You can watch live at 11 a.m. or later in the day when it fits your family’s schedule. Some weeks there will be active learning during and after Mass, while other weeks we will reach out to specific grade levels to help us celebrate Mass. There will even be some opportunities for you to show us your work, creation, or talent (like dressing as your favorite Saint this week), which will be posted in some way on our website.
With appreciation and gratitude,
